Together as ONE,

We Celebrate with Compassion

ree

As 2025 comes to a close, we pause to celebrate our shared successes and to thank everyone who has supported ATLF’s mission of ending hazing through the practice of compassionate leadership.

When we hear the word celebration, we often think about big events, parties or ceremonies. But compassionate celebrations remind us that every act of courage, every moment of connection, and every step toward change is worth acknowledging.

Some days we may feel that there is little to celebrate, yet the simple fact that we are here, alive, and able to uplift another human being is already an enormous reason for gratitude. One honest conversation, one kind gesture, one act of compassion can be a celebration in itself.

Too often, when we plan gatherings, we focus on trivial details like food, decorations, and logistics. These matter, but they are not the heart of why we come together. At the center of every celebration is our brilliant, imperfect humanity shaped by our traditions, joys, and losses. What truly matters is the space we create to see one another, honor one another, and recognize the beauty of our shared journey.

With that spirit we encourage you to embrace the heart of the holidays, the love, gratitude and joy that we can share.

To celebrate with compassion:

●      Appreciate small victories

●      Honor each other’s stories

●      Express gratitude out loud

●      Make space for different voices, traditions and perspectives

●      Practice generosity

●      Avoid getting overwhelmed by planning small details and enjoy the spirit and joy of the season

Thank you for leading with love and compassion!

ATLF AMBASSADORS’ CORNER

ree

The values I learned from ATLF have continued to shape how I view organizations and my relationships with others. Anyone can possess compassion and leadership and if anything, it is essential for a functioning group. Organizations are living beings in that sense; they are constructed by the compassionate leaders in them. I thank ATLF for developing my perspective on this and for continuing to support my development in college.

TOGETHER, WE DID IT! THANK YOU!!!

When we registered for Give Miami Day, we had no idea what to expect.  Today, we are overwhelmed, not just with the funds raised, but with the amazing show of support for our mission. Our hearts are so full.

More than 90 individual donors contributed $6378, exceeding both our initial goal and our stretch goal. Your donations also enabled an additional $1000 in matching funds from an anonymous Give Miami Day sponsor.

These funds will educate students about hazing and empower them to make safe and compassionate choices through the:

• Year-long Ambassadors’ Program

• Seminars in local schools and provides

• Scholarships for high school students

• Presentations to on-campus groups in the Greek community

• Support of hazing prevention legislation

• Funding new research to quantify the incidence of hazing on campuses across the country

Our Network of Empathy (ONE) campaign encourages people to take ONE step to end hazing. Your generosity proves the power of this network.

When we act as ONE, change is possible!

Every presentation we share moves us closer to building a world rooted in compassion and peace: one conversation at a time. Together as ONE, we lead with compassion!

CLEARING the Way to Compassionate Listening for Sophomores at Ransom Everglades

ree

Our ambassadors, Lola, Gabrielle and Christopher demonstrated compassionate leadership as they guided sophomores through the Active Listening Module of our Compassionate Leadership program at Ransom Everglades. Through their presence and attentive engagements students discovered the power of active listening in shaping effective communication and stronger and more cohesive groups. We are grateful to the leadership team and the entire RE community, especially Ms. Perez-Gonzalez and Mr. Adatto, for their continued support. Together as ONE, we lead with compassion!

The Antonio Tsialas ‘23 Hazing Prevention Week at Cornell University

Last month, we participated in the Antonio Tsialas ‘23 Hazing Prevention Week at Cornell University. Returning to Cornell is always emotional, but sharing Antonio’s story, connecting with the leadership at Cornell University and working with incredible student leaders who are committed to compassionate leadership fills us with hope for the future. We were touched to hear from students who had attended our presentations in the past and were inspired to make changes. We are grateful to the leadership at Cornell University for making space for transformation..

When we act as ONE, change is possible!

Turning Shopping into Compassion

In early November, we enjoyed an afternoon at Island Girl Miami! We are grateful to everyone who came together to support hazing prevention and leadership education! Your generosity reminds us of the power of ONE (Our Network of Empathy) in action. A special thanks to Sandy and the Island Girl Miami team for their open hearts and partnership
